The Consulate General of Pakistan, Milan, in collaboration with the Sadequain Foundation and the Comune di Milano, organized a three-day art exhibition to commemorate the 94th birthday of the renowned Pakistani artist, Sadequain. The inaugural session of the exhibition, which was held on 5th of July 2024, was attended by a large number of local officials, art connoisseurs, and members of the diplomatic community in Milan.

Speaking at the event, the guest of honor, Ms. Francesca de Feo, Deputy Mayor of Culture, commended the Consulate’s efforts in organizing this event and assured her continued support for similar initiatives in the future. Ms. Aysel Annagi Seyidova, Co-founder Milan Painting Academy, provided an insightful overview of the artist’s life, unique calligraphic style, and the themes, techniques, and mediums he employed in his works.

In her remarks, Consul General Aqsa Nawaz highlighted Sadequain’s status as one of the most celebrated calligraphers in Pakistan and the profound impact his work had on the artistic landscape of the calligraphic world. She praised the artist’s ability to seamlessly blend spiritual themes with the human condition in his paintings, and discussed some of his most celebrated works displayed around the world.

The event concluded with the screening of a documentary on Sadequain’s life, work, and legacy, followed by the offering of Pakistani delicacies to the guests, providing them with an immersive cultural experience.
